Online Video is New God of Content Marketing

The play button has become the most compelling call to action on the Web. Marketers have learned that video is good for more than attracting attention. It enriches the customer journey at all stages, and it is more effective than other content at converting buyers.

2015 was a busy year in video marketing.

In July, YouTube announced that 400 hours of video were being uploaded to the site every minute. In November, Facebook announced that they are generating 8 billion video views per day. And according to Tubular Labs, 654.7 million videos have been uploaded by 66.7 million creators in the last 365 days to more than 30 video platforms. And these videos have 2.8 trillion (yes, that’s trillion with a “T”) views, or an average of 4,390 views per video. But that’s last year’s news. What does the future of video marketing look like?

Video marketing will skyrocket, with Cisco predicting that video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic by 2017. Customers are changing where they watch video. You should pay attention to the “where”. From 2012 to 2014, mobile video views have increased by 400 percent. 20% of video views were happening on mobile devices at the beginning of 2015. 50% of video views will be happening on mobile devices in 2016.

As I mentioned earlier that Facebook video viewership is growing by leaps and bounds. It now sees 8 billion average daily video views from 500 million users and new Facebook live is added new experience in live streaming.

You should invest in video advertisement. If you are already doing pay-per-click advertisement on Google or other platforms, why wouldn’t you also invest in video advertisement? The average CTR for video advertisement is higher than any other digital advertisement.

The bottom line is that video and video advertisement should have a significant role in your marketing strategy and marketing budget.

The single most important strategy in content marketing today is video. Whether it’s video on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Youtube, the content you need to be thinking about creating and marketing on social for your business is video. No matter what you’re selling, no matter what your company does, if you don’t have a video marketing strategy for the biggest video platforms, you are going to lose. And in case you haven’t noticed, the platforms of distribution for video content online have shifted drastically over the last 18 months.
